Zootopia is something of an old-school Disney detective story that will take you to your yester years. The city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and prosper. When Judy Hops (Jennifer Goodwin) becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how hard it is to put the law into effect. Firm and determined in her mission to prove herself, Judy is delighted at the opportunity to solve a high priority case even if that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a sneaky fox who makes her job harder. However, they soon learn that they must work together to expose a conspiracy.
The movie itself doing great at the box office and getting rave reviews, sitting at 99% on Rotten Tomatoes and scoring an 8.4/10 rating by IMDb. But is has come under fire after a few critics called its take on prejudice its biggest problem. Thus, sparking a heated debate between general public. “For a movie built entirely around ‘don’t judge an animal by its species,’ there’s also plenty of ‘a leopard can’t change its spots”, Renshaw wrote about the extended bits about howling wolves and sloths.
Performances by the voice cast have been praised time and again. Full of visual wonders, it’s comical, it’s shrewd, it’s exciting and thrilling, and it brings to light an important social issue ‘racism’. Your kids will not just love this animated movie, they will also take home with them a great social message.
