“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” sees the classic DC Comics characters meet on the big screen for the first time.
While most of you are excited about watching it at your nearest cinema this weekend. Though the General (G) rating of the movie in Pakistan allows younger viewers to attend the shows without any adult supervision, if you find yourself asking whether or not to take your kids to see their favorite superheroes this weekend, ask yourself this: How much of their childhood do you want to ruin?
The film starts superbly. Picking up just before the end of “Man of Steel”, in which Superman was drawn into a super scrap that demolished half of the city of Metropolis. Many people fear that he may turn against humanity and thus, Bruce Wayne decides Superman is too powerful to trust and sets out on a mission to take him down. Be it Superman who lands the first punch or Batman drawing blood, fans of the movie will not be missing out on the epic superhero battle!
However, beginning and ending with a funeral, the movie fails to deliver as one of director, Zack Snyder’s brilliant cinematic experiment. It is too dark for its own good.
Look! Up in the sky! Is it a bird? No, is it a plane? No, is it Superman? Well, it sure as hell doesn’t look like him. The characters are so dark that they cease to exist as superheroes. The only glance at a superhero comes in the final few moments of the film as wonder woman. Again, hers and Lex Luther’s characters as undeveloped as could be though.
Hovering at a score of 44 on Metacritic and a 33 on Rotten Tomatoes, Batman vs. Superman is now showing all over Pakistan. What did you think?! Let us hear your Batman v Superman review!
